The Wildschloss (Schalun Castle)

The Wildschloss is a castle ruin around 400 metres north of Vaduz. Visitors can visit the site either on foot or by mountainbike.

It is thought that the castle - which is first mentioned in records from 1237 - was built around the end of the 12th century. However, the very small amount of material found during archaeological digs at the site indicate that it was most likely cleared and burned down at a later point in time. After the castle came into the possession of the Prince Regnant in the 18th century, it was later handed over to the Municipality of Vaduz.

Today, two main parts of the castle remain standing: the grand hall and a section of the keep.
