Mauren-Schaanwald is also known as the village with the seven hills which were formed by the scree and debris from the last glacier on the eastern foot of "Eschnerberg" mountain. Thanks to its privileged location, Mauren offers a wonderful panorama whichever way you look.
From Mauren you can reach the ruins of the Castle of Schellenberg on foot in about half an hour.
Weiherring leisure center with its pavilion for various events,
a halfpipe and a beach and volleyball court has become a popular
meeting-place for young and old.
For nature lovers, the nature reserve and Birka bird paradise (Vogelparadies Birka) in "Maurer Riet" are a true natural oasis.
Another sight worth visiting is the parish church which has
just been renovated. Furthermore, excavations are being carried out
just beneath the church which document that the village with the seven
hills had been populated many centuries ago.
