The state

The Principality of Liechtenstein is a constitutional hereditary monarchy on a democratic and parliamentary basis. The head of state is Prince Hans-Adam II von und zu Liechtenstein. The parliament ('Landtag') is the legislative organ and comprises 25 members. Executive power is exercised by a government made up of five persons. Judicial power lies with the Supreme Court, whose five judges are appointed by a body chaired by the Prince.
